Criteria

What is the Community Brain Injury Team?

The Community Brain Injury Team (CBIT) is an interdisciplinary team which provides high quality neuro-rehabilitation to adults who have sustained a brain injury and are now living in a community setting in Medway and Swale. We do not provide an inpatient service.

CBIT provides neurorehabilitation from occupational therapy, physiotherapy, psychology and speech language therapy.

Most of our referrals are for clients who have sustained a traumatic brain injury. We also work with people who have had encephalitis, meningitis, anoxia or other brain injuries and people in low awareness states.

Strokes and spontaneous events are served by stroke services not CBIT. We are not commissioned to work with people affected by progressive conditions.

  • Have complex needs and require therapy from at least two or more disciplines in the team
  • Demonstrate potential for improvement
  • Are living in a community setting in the Sittingbourne, Isle of Sheppey or Medway area
