Learning Disability Forensic Outreach and Liaison Service (LD FOLS)
What does LD FOLS do?
Kent Learning Disability Forensic Outreach and Liaison Service (LD FOLS) provides ongoing specialist forensic care to individuals in the community, both male and female, who are from Kent and Medway and have a diagnosis of learning disability (LD) and LD with Autism.
Our aim is to offer support and risk management to individuals with LD / LD with Autism who have offended in the community or are at risk of doing so, and those transferring following a secure inpatient admission into the community. This is with an aim of reducing the likelihood of (re)admission to secure services in the future.
Dependent on the individual’s needs, LD FOLS are able to offer some group risk reduction interventions, support to the MDT and Care Providers for risk management/risk reduction and forensic risk assessments. We also provide input into some specialist placements across Kent and Medway.
We promote effective risk management, whilst aiming to reduce people’s length of stay in secure units and ensuring that treatment is provided in the least restrictive environment.
