KMPT shines a spotlight on apprentices
Date added: 04 March 2019
We are #KMPTProud to be supporting the launch of the government’s new apprenticeship campaign ‘Fire It Up’, which highlights the fantastic contribution apprentices up and down the country make to organisations.
This National Apprenticeship Week (4 – 8 March 2019) we are shouting about the great work that our apprentices make to KMPT.
Stan joined us in February 2018 as Graphic Design apprentice after a friend recommended the role to him. After successfully applying, he has spent the last year working in our communications team whilst studying for a Business Administration Level 3 qualification.
He works alongside our Graphic Designer to produce promotional materials and publications, including posters, flyers, leaflets and business cards.
Speaking about his apprenticeship he said: “An apprenticeship excited me because it allowed me to learn in a practical way as opposed to a purely academic route. The opportunity to work in a busy, vibrant and professional team also meant I gained invaluable and varied work experience, while being mentored by an experienced Graphic Designer.”
Stan has received acclaim from colleagues across the trust and built a reputation for producing outstanding work. His work has also been highlighted by the Chief Executive and at our trust Board meeting.
He adds: “My apprenticeship has been my greatest achievement to date. It has allowed me to grow in confidence and given me new skills that I never thought I’d have. I’m also very proud that I have worked hard to complete my apprenticeship qualification three months early. It’s one of the best things I’ve ever done!”
Stan has since been offered a permanent position as a Graphic Design Assistant starting this month and has been shortlisted in the 2019 Kent, Surrey and Sussex Apprenticeship and Support Workers Awards in the Advanced (Level 3) Non-Clinical Apprentice of the Year category. The awards acknowledge and celebrate an apprentice’s exceptional contributions to their workplace and take place on Thursday 14 March 2019.
If you know someone who is interested in a career in mental health tell them about an apprenticeship with KMPT. We can offer work apprenticeships in many departments including wards, finance, administration, hotel services and community services and teams to name just a few.
