KMPT Secures Purpose Coalition Award for Good Health and Wellbeing
Date added: 20 December 2023
Kent and Medway NHS & Social Care Partnership Trust (KMPT) is delighted to have been selected as the winner of the Good Health and Wellbeing Award at this year’s Purpose Coalition Awards.
We partnered with Purpose Coalition at the start of 2023 and signed up to the new Purpose Goals framework which sets out how organisations can measure their social impact and benchmark them against a global standard.
This prestigious award highlights our commitment to meeting the goals outlined in Goal 8: Good health and wellbeing, with a strong emphasis on addressing health and wellbeing inequalities. We’ve been working hard to make sure we’re focusing on important initiatives and working with our staff to ensure that KMPT is a happy and healthy and inclusive place to work.
We've introduced initiatives such as Virgin Pulse Go, trust-wide wellbeing events, wellbeing boxes, and other useful resources for staff such as the Active 10 app.
Ensuring that our staff not only have time to take a break but are able to relax in an environment that helps them unwind is vital. We introduced modern and vibrant 'chill out' spaces across our main sites in Dartford, Maidstone, and Canterbury to help people do exactly that. These spaces, designed in collaboration with our staff, offer a serene environment equipped with kitchens, comfy chairs, smart TVs, and outdoor areas—a perfect space during their busy day to take and break and to chill out.
The cost of living remains a central issue for many people, and our staff were not alone in having to find ways to manage their finances better. We wanted to ensure that there was the right support in place and easy access to helpful information to empower our staff.
We partnered with Wagestream – a way for people to access their wages more flexibly each month when they need them most and receive financial advice - as well as regularly hosting financial wellbeing webinars and pension advice.
As a leading provider of mental health services, KMPT championed 'talking wellness,' one of the 40 resilience hubs funded by NHS England. This initiative provided mental health wellbeing support to all NHS and social care staff across Kent and Medway.
We proudly achieved the Platinum award from Kent and Medway Councils' Healthy Workplace Initiative in December 2022, showing our dedication to a comprehensive health and wellbeing programme.
The Purpose Coalition Award stands as a testament to our exemplary efforts in promoting good health and wellbeing. However, we acknowledge the need for ongoing investment and adaptation to align with the evolving needs of our staff. It’s why our commitment to nurturing the health and wellbeing of our workforce remains a top priority for 2024 as part of our three-year strategy.
