Get moving this Mental Health Awareness Week!

This week we’re celebrating Mental Health Awareness (13 – 19 May), and this year’s theme is all about movement.

According to the Mental Health Foundation, movement is important for our mental health and a regular dose of physical activity can reduce the risk of depression by up to 30%.

Getting regular exercise can also increase self-esteem, reduce stress, and improve your quality of life. However, many of us struggle to incorporate movement into our working day, and instead spend eight or more hours sitting at a computer desk – with very few breaks.

There are many other different reasons why we don’t (or can’t) move as much as we need to, and because May is also National Walking Month we want to help you to get active this week.

Hear from Dr Adeola Adeyemi, one our speciality registrars, as she shares why adding movement to your daily routine can improve your mental health.
