Celebrating Peer Support Week and NHS70
Date added: 03 July 2018
To celebrate Peer Support Week (2-6 July 2018), Peer Support Worker Ruth has organised a special event to mark the NHS 70th birthday on 4 July, from 12pm until 3pm at Mote Park in Maidstone.
Come along and celebrate the fabulous work that peer support workers do to make a difference to the lives of those that they support. Ruth is one of twenty-three peer support workers employed within the trust who use their ‘lived experience’ of a mental illness to help others.
Ruth and staff from Newhaven Lodge; a mixed gender inpatient adult mental health rehabilitation unit will be on hand offering henna tattoos, glitter face painting, outdoor summer games, nibbles and cakes. Donations would be welcome so that any money raised can be back into the unit and patient care. The unit helps those that have experienced a relapse in their mental health, promotes recovery and supports people to develop or regain skills for everyday living.
