Define a strategy
What is a driver diagram?
A driver diagram summarises the network of causes (drivers) driving the aim and the change ideas which may result in an improvement
- A driver diagram starts with your aim and maps out what changes you intend to make in order to reach it
- This is a tool for thinking about your changes and your measures
- On the left we have the improvement aim
- In the middle we have the network of causes which drive the aim
- On the right we depict change ideas that might ultimately impact the aim
- You may then wish to use the prioritization matrix to choose the change ideas
What is a SMART aim?
It is really important that we clearly define what do we want to achieve and by when
- Your improvement aim should be as SMART as possible
- SMART stands for specific, measurable, achievable, realistic/relevant and time bound
- Your aim should align with KMPT’s strategic objectives
- Your aim may be informed by stakeholder views, process mapping, national or professional guidelines or recommendations
- Your aim should make a measurable difference
- To make your aim as clear as possible, we suggest you consider the following criteria and questions
